FACE DUSTERS

Face dusters is a project I conceptualised around two years ago and has recently become one of my main focuses.

The project started as a way to celebrate the friendships and connections I’ve made through my time at University. inspired by the Greek practice of comissioning statues of your loved ones to show your appreciation and imortalise them. I aimed to put a modern twist on the concept, using modern techniques to capture likeness but keep the same timeless effecct. I chose pewter as my metal of choice for it’s low melting point and price. now that I am comfortable with the medium, i’m eager to move onto silver!

Over the course of the project I have used three forms of 3D scanning, learnt how to cast in silicone, resin, pewter and wax. and used both FDM and SLA 3D printing examples of these techiques can be seen.

GRADUATION RINGS

Towards the end of final year I decided it would be a fun idea to create a Commemorative ring for the graduating class. As well as a good way to practice both my lettering, wax casting, 3D modelling and Advertising skills. I decided to make the ring thin and simple. so that it could be worn everyu day and could be stackable with other jewelry. It was my feeling that although we are proud of our University we are aware of it’s reputation of being pretentious.

I was aware that I was selling these rings to friends and students, so I opted to seel these rings for cost so that I could get farmilliar with the expreitnce of sending waxes off to a foundary to be cast in silver.

I ended up only selling a handful of these rings but never the less what I set out to do was accomplished and a rapport with A foundry.

Explorations into metal jewelry

This heart signet ring design was my first foray into metal ring design. the textured surface was a result of moisture and air bubbles in the mould, something usually undesireable but in my case I was rather fond of the variability in texture from ring to ring
